Masked Men in Greatcoats

I don't know why I liked V for Vendetta, I know the movie left a real warm and noble feeling deep inside of me but I have no idea why. There was this guy in a Guy Fawkes mask... I had no idea Guy was so hot, but apparently he was. And he is enveloped in this cloak which is reminiscent of Neo (Matrix), Harry Potter and nobility. (No wonder all the superguy types in movies wear greatcoats. To see it flapping in the wind is an incredible turn on.)

Anyways, the movie is set in the future, in the grip of a really immense conspiracy to be shattered by the hero - V and his female counterpart who stars in the film with the sole purpose of asking all the questions on behalf of the lay viewer. It is a lot about symbolism - of the mask, of structures, of ideas. But the movie so entirely required me to stretch my imagination thin, and be so forgiving of obvious flaws.

I may have liked it for Natalie Portman who, as the saying goes, looked good enough to eat. Even when her head was shaved. In many ways, that is a test of beauty. Hair can so change a person's looks that a truly lovely person should be delicious to behold even without her crowing glory. And since I am have now given up on straightening my hair and trying the tousled, messy look, I was glad to see that in the film, she did not have poker straight hair either. I don't know why that should be a comfort but it was.

I may have liked it for for the protagonist. But being in an underground castle with a man in a mask with a turn for explosives and sabotage, who is really great with knives is not entirely my idea of a great romance (give me comfort and conversation anytime).

I came home feeling all good and noble and ready to blow up some buildings myself. But I was so tired that I thought that I would turn to Peter Wimsey who is incredibly intelligent and a former playboy whose heart now solely beats for Harriet Vane. Having finally figured out how to get my cooler to blow cool air at me instead of hot (A simple matter of settings...), I went to bed with Wimsey in Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club. Sabotage doesn't matter at all.

I saw that movie too. and I liked it for the same reason .. Natalie Portman :-o).. She is just cute and hot n sexy... All through the Movie, the voice of the Man in the Mask sounded so familiar and kept riinging in my ears that it kept bothering me all through until I figured out who it was... It was Hugo Weaving.. the Mr. Smith of Matrix(this movie is also by Wachowski Bros.) and the same guy who played Douglas Jardine in the infamous Bodyline TV series(if u r a cricket fan, that might interest you).. Hes got a good voice... For a man w/o a face and only voice, seems like a good casting for that character..
But at the end of it all.. I truly admire the British to let the movie makers blow up their Symbol Big Ben and House of Parliaments into a wisp of smoke .. even if its only a movie.. I cant imagine White House being blown away by a protagonist or Our Taj Mahal blown away by some terrorists even for a movie(not that I want someone to do it).. There would be dire consequences to even think about something like that.. But I liked this idea.. SO wat its just a building ! duh..!

@ Sriram: I am not a BIG cricket fan but I liked Bodyline and watched it. And teh white house was blown up in Independence Day. Apparently the President at the time (Clinton, i think) commented that it was so realistic, he was unsure if it would be still standing when he got home or something to that effect.
And as for blowing up the Taj Mahal, never fear, in some Tamil film, deshdrohis may make the attempt, but Rajini will stop the bomb with a Trishul.

Well.. Hence the Ram said.. Blown up by a protogonist. to be precise....
In Independence day it was blown up by the Aliens.. They dont count as real people do they..

Careless sinks into philosphy to observe - Are there any real people in the world any more? Aren't we all fake?

Right said Careless ... all of us fakers hiding behind masks and cloaks. Blowing up bridges of human love and understanding with dynamite of hate, anger, greed, jealousy, lust, gluttony and fear.

LOL ... I think I took all of 4 seconds to spew all of that above.
