Kiss me out of the bearded barley
Nightly, beside the green, green grass
Swing, swing, swing the spinning step
You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress.
Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift your open hand
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance
Silver moon's sparkling
So kiss me
Kiss me down by the broken tree house
Swing me upon its hanging tire
Bring, bring, bring your flowered hat
We'll take the trail marked on your father's map
Been listening to this after a long time now. And been listening to it almost all afternoon. I don't have any idea why this song does this to me... But it does.
It brings up the image of a ramshackle country house shaded with big trees, a girl in a flowered summer dress and a straw hat, a tire hanging from a tree, a guy in a white shirt and jeans, walking hand in hand, laughing, almost with childlike happiness. And when they are not laughing, they are kissing.
Whenever I hear this song I want to run into that image that is formed in my mind. I want to forget about work and life and home and prosaic things. The only reality is to be there at that ramshackle house. The only reality is to be kissing him.
And damn, damn, damn, I can find neither the guy nor the house when the song is not playing. And I don't know how to get there. Or where to find him.

@ Careless: Pretty interesting... Men always say.. Why am I not finding the right girl, or ask the question, Where are the girls?? and Women do ask the same questions... There are Men and there are women all around.. and everybody is just questioning but just not looking. Why is that so?? Any thoughts?? I am no expert on looking, but a good one at questioning such as you and many others... But I would like to get some interesting thoughts and remarks on this..
@ Sriram: This is just an imaginary guy and an imaginary house. I dom't particularly want to find him on a permanant basis types. Merely want to kiss him coz it seems like the right thing to do when the song is playing.... (I hope that didn't scandalize you :)
And as for why men and women are both questioning, I think that there are people who are meant and those who are not. It would be scandalous if everyone just randomly got together. There has to be a thing. And that thing has to be mutual.
I think folks these days get together for different reasons than our ancestors. So we look beyond socio-economic (and maybe even gender) factors and look for that "chemistry." For two people with mutual "chemistry" to get to know of each other's existance and get to meet and perhaps make a relationship is not really the easiest. Too many logistical and other coincidences are needed. W
hich is why I think, both sexes look. And when they're frustrated, they question. Unless you're really lucky you don't find. The accent I think is not on "Where is the girl?", but rather on "Where is the RIGHT girl?" After a few years of looking and questioning, we settle for whatever is available. And are often unhappy. calls to mind the Zen story of the Longest Stick :)

Why in the world would you form an opinion that such a thing would scandalize me?? :).. I am all for it.. If I had a girl or lets say the RIGHT girl, you bet I would do the same... :)
One song stands? Me likey!
Limited engagement, no strings ... hmmm nice!
@ Sriram: Very cool. Let's hope the coincidences happen. :)
@ Summit: I know! Awesome, huh?
